Stripping An Asbestos Roof

When stripping an asbestos roof from a factory or warehouse, there are a number of health and safety considerations.

The nature of asbestos cement means that it becomes brittle with age and it’s highly likely, that even with the most careful roofing contractor, that some debris will fall to the space beneath the roof.

In cases where the area is unoccupied, this is less of a problem in terms of danger from falling objects, but care must still be taken to minimise risks of contamination from fibre  release.

When stripping an asbestos cement roof, it’s usual practice to place nets at high level, not only to reduce the danger of falling debris, but also to protect the workforce above!
